Ricardo and Daphny Ainslie repaired, renovated and expanded a 1920s house in Austin, Texas, with help from Liz MacPhail, an interior designer, and the architecture firm PFA Design Group. The living room has old shiplap paneling, a tufted green sofa from Lee Industries and colorful art. “It’s a blank canvas, a very neutral space, that has this really fun expression through its furniture and art,” Ms. MacPhail said.
