Kitchen of the Week: Shaker in the City

We are big fans of deVOL kitchens, so we took notice when the UK-based bespoke cabinetmaker opened up a New York City outpost not too long ago. Now you can see all four of their cabinet styles up-close at their showroom on Bond Street in Lower Manhattan.

While each line has something to recommend itself, we’re partial to their Real Shaker range, which also happens to be deVOL’s most popular and affordable collection. (Prices for a Real Shaker kitchen start at $20,000, compared to $40,000 for their Classic English look.) This yellow and gray model kitchen showcases its appeal: clean lines, painted cabinets, natural materials, elegant simplicity.

“This kitchen was designed to show how simple modular Shaker cupboards in standard sizes painted in one of our standard colors can be transformed into an atmospheric and authentic room with color and beautiful things,” says creative director Helen Parker. “[It’s] designed to transport you to a French country kitchen in the height of summer.”

The cabinets are painted “Lead” (from deVOL’s own collection of Shaker colors); the walls Farrow & Ball India Yellow; the trim Farrow & Ball Off-White.
