Who doesn’t dream of having a pool in their own backyard to enjoy with friends and family? Especially on hot summer days, where you can cool off and relax after a long day of work or school right in the comfort of your own home.

If you are considering adding a pool to your property, there are many different factors to consider, from the materials and contractors you choose to the features you want. The most common materials for a pool are gunite (concrete), vinyl, and fiberglass. How much your pool will cost depends on the type of material, style, and the contractor you pick. The average cost of an in-ground concrete pool ranges between roughly $39,000 to $70,000, while vinyl and fiberglass pools are slightly more affordable.

Whether you’re ready to get a pool of your own or just want to get a sense of how much it costs to build one, we have compiled a list of the top pool installation companies to help you get started or plan ahead.

We looked at more than 25 pool installation companies and narrowed down the list after taking into consideration each company’s years of experience, pricing, accreditations, website usability, financing options, location, and services.

For example, we choose the Premier Pools & Spas for our best overall pick for its nationwide coverage, as it has more than 75 offices, and for providing services for residential and commercial properties. We selected Van Kirk & Sons, Pool & Spas for best for Florida because it offers commercial and residential pool installations across the Sunshine State. Additionally, we selected California Pools for best custom because of its experience in building more than 70,000 custom pools to date nationwide.

Pool installation companies evaluate and provide you with an estimate based on the material, style, and features you choose for your pool. Most of the companies listed here cover the entire building process, from digging the ground where the pool will go to the electrical installation. Some companies offer additional services, such as decking and landscaping.

The cost of a pool varies depending on the kind of material, features, and contractor you use. In addition, your property’s location and the pool size and design also affect the price. On average, cost ranges from roughly $39,000 to $70,000. Concrete pools are the most expensive type to build and install, followed by vinyl and fiberglass pools.

Gunite pools are concrete pools that are built on-site and can take up to two or three months to build. Fiberglass pools are prefabricated ones built off-site that can be installed within a week, depending on the size of the pool. Vinyl pools are made out of a line of heavy duty vinyl and the pool structure is often built out of prefabricated metal or plastic walls. The ensemble and installation process for these pools happens on-site and can take up to six weeks.

Yes, all the pool providers in the list above offer direct financing, or they have partners with financial institutions where you can apply for a pool loan. All loans are subject to approval by the financial institution you choose.
